Tired of sitting in a regular chair? If you’re looking for truly ergonomic chairs with stylish designs, you will want to scroll down below and read our selections for the top 5 Best Gaming Chairs in Malaysia for the year 2024, available now on Shopee & Lazada.
How We Pick
As we mention in our article on Best Budget Gaming Chairs, the best way to know whether a chair is fit for you is to actually sit on the chair itself. However, there are a few key considerations that you can take into account to judge the quality of the gaming chair without physically touching it.
Price Tags
There are lots of gaming chairs on the market, including those made at very low cost. What is considered high end gaming chairs in Malaysia may not actually be high end if we compare the price tags to those in international markets (for example, if compared to SecretLabs).
However, anything north of RM800 you can safely consider as great gaming chairs in Malaysia. Our choices therefore include those in the RM800-RM2000 price range.
Fabric
Gaming chair brands really like to use PU leather with a bit of carbon fibre or high quality fabric, as the main ‘skin’ of the chair. While PVC is more durable, PU leather gives this almost-true-leather vibe. Our selections here mostly are focused on chairs with PU leather and some with PVC.
Recline Angle
A good gaming chair should be able to recline up to 160°-180° degrees. Most of you probably won’t need to adjust the backrest all the way to 180° degrees though. Regardless, we wanted to choose those than can recline in this range, unless we think other features make up for not being able to do this (such as 4D adjustable armrest).
Armrests Adjustability
Cheap gaming chairs typically have either fixed or 2D armrests. A hallmark of a good core structure design is the chair’s ability to have its armrests adjusted in 4D (up-down, forward-backward, left-right and rotated inwards-outwards). Our selections favor gaming chairs with 4D armrests.
Backrest Length & Weight Support
Besides being able to recline, gaming chairs should also fit most people comfortably. We selected those with backrest length around or above 180cm with body weight support at least 120kg and up to 180kg. For the average Malaysia, this criteria should fit.
Ergonomic Design
Now many brands will claim their chair is ergonomic, but this doesn’t automatically mean it’s comfortable. Ergonomic in this context simply means that the chair is adjustable. We prefer those with wide, tall, dense but soft lumbar & neck pillows as those actually have the best chance of being truly ergonomic for most people (adjustable and allow good posture).
There are a few other factors to consider, so check out or Gaming Chair Buying Guide. For now, let’s see our top selections.

Gaming Chair Buying Guide
Have you decided to get a gaming chair? Before you pick just based off styles alone, we thought it’d be good to share about some buying factors you should consider based on our research:
- Budget: We recommend having a budget of minimum RM500. Ideally above RM1000 (check out why below).
- Fabric: PVC is more durable, PU leather feels more like leather. Fabric is cooling and breathable. Best if you find a chair that uses multiple types of fabric (such as PU leather and fabric).
- Body weight support: The more the chair can handle body weight, the more sturdy it is.
- Recline angle: You’d want at least a chair that can recline at least 160° degrees. Best 180° degrees.
- Armrest adjustability: If you’re spending more than RM1000, get one with 4D armrests.
- Seat Width: You’d want a seat with as much space as possible. A good range is over 50cm including sides. But smaller seat can still fit most people.
- Base: Aluminium is more sturdy, Nylon is lighter.
- Neck & lumbar pillows: Typically, those with wide pillows feel more comfortable, but small ones are not necessarily inferior.
- Ergonomic design: Don’t expect ergonomic to automatically mean comfortable!
- Backrest length: Most have at least 80cm tall backrests. If shorter, double check the dimensions against your height.
Premium Vs Affordable Gaming Chairs
A quick check on shopping platforms will show you that there are many brands of gaming chairs, a lot of which serve the low to mid price range markets. These affordable gaming chairs are at the level now where they can provide decent comfort and durability. But of course, being cost effective means they can never rival the quality of high end gaming chairs. So which one is for you?
Of course, the initial price tags of premium gaming chairs are higher but in general, according to chairsfx.com, cheap gaming chairs will not last as long as premium gaming chairs. So in the long run, the best gaming chairs may actually cost you less.
Comfort is also very important, if you plan to use this chair for 5-8 hours every day, it may be good to spend a little for the best premium gaming chair that not only can last 3-5 years, but prevent you from developing muscle ache and back pain.
Now you know which seat to get, complete your gaming setup with a gaming keyboard, gaming laptop and a gaming headset.
